Cape Mudge + My Favorites
When Captain Vancouver landed on Quadra Island in 1792, the Coast Salish People inhabited the area. Vancouver decided to name the southwest shore destination Cape Mudge after his first lieutenant on the H.M.S. Discovery, Zachary Mudge. Today this village is home to the We Wai Kai band of the Laichwiltach People and is filled with the wealth of their culture. Visitors to Cape Mudge are invited to view the spectacular artifacts at the Kwagiulth Museum and Cultural Centre of Cape Mudge or stay at Tsa-Kwa Luten Lodge and RV Park, a full service resort. Those admirers of natural beauty may appreciate Cape Mudge’s surrounding features – the waters of Discovery Passage and 1,100 acres of temperate rainforest. Quathiaski Cove + My Favorites
The largest of the Quadra Island communities, Quathiaski Cove is considered the commercial centre of the island. Q-cove, as the locals call it, is the main port for Campbell River-Quadra Island boat traffic, and contains many businesses, an elementary school and community centre. Several tour and accommodation options exist in the area. Address: Southwest | Quadra Island, BC [ Map ]
Heriot Bay + My Favorites
The community of Heriot Bay is located on the east side of Quadra Island, facing the striking beauty of the mainland mountains. The port hosts many visiting vessels, including sea kayaks, the ferry to Cortes Island, water taxis and some float planes. Visitors will find many recreational services in Heriot Bay, including boat rentals, accommodations and tour companies. Address: East | Quadra Island, BC [ Map ]
